1 Samuel 6:20 (KJV) What a Question

1 Samuel 6:20 (KJV)
And the men of Bethshemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? and to whom shall he go up from us?

What a question!

  • On the one hand they had discovered the holiness of God and their frailty before Him
  • On the other, they had chosen to pass off the duties of spiritual growth to others who would want the risks and responsibilities.

A relationship with the Lord involves:

  • a sense of His holiness,
  • an awareness of our brokenness but also
  • a commitment to genuine faithfulness
