Luke 5:5 Nevertheless

Luke 5:5 (KJV)
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Verses 1-11 really need to be seen as a whole
There was the Word of God
Vs 3
Jesus had preached to the crowds out of the ship.  Let God’s Word minister to you and others

There was the command of Jesus
Vs 4
We may expect that the Word of God will contain some command of God. He has ordained the saved unto good works.

There was the hesitation of man
Vs 5
God’s commands often go contrary to our experiences.

There was obedience
Vs 5
Nevertheless at thy word. This must be our rallying cry.

There was a great success
Vs 6
Surprising, unprecedented. Unlike what a man could have done

There was a united effort
Vs 7
The work of God must always be a joint effort. Never think we can do it alone. Each of us must individually choose to obey but then each of us must yoke up with others in the work.

There was an earnest surrender
Vs 8-9
This seems to me like an altar call.

There was a new purpose in life
Vs 10-11
God changes priorities in the lives of those surrendered to Him.
