Hosea 2:19-20 (KJV)
And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in
I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.
This is a prophetical passage. It concerns Israel (all twelve tribes) in the Millennial Kingdom. But there is application for us all. The final verse of the chapter says in part, “I will say to them which are not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.”
I note these marks of those who are “betrothed” to the Lord:
- Loving kindness
I take it that these are not the marks of those betrothed to the Lord but of the Lord toward the betrothed. The difference between the religious and the Christian (a true one) is this perspective. The religious always assign the work to the man. Biblical Christianity ascribes it to God.
