Habakkuk 1:6 Bitterness

Habakkuk 1:6 (KJV)
For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.

Bitterness. It is never a quality we want in our lives. Though God uses the Chaldeans for his own purposes, they were destined for judgment precisely because of bitterness.

Notice the description of bitterness:

Though it’s not truly an adjective here, it is none the less true that the bitter are often impetuous, warlike; they fly off the handle quickly.

Marching through properties and possessing dwellings that are not their own.

They believe they have the right to judge those they will as they will. They forget that vengeance belongs to God.

Bitterness is explosive. It erupts as a volcano to do terrible damage.

His mind changes. At one moment he is angry a thing happens. In the next moment he is angry the same does not happen.

He may claim faith, but it is most often in a god of his own making.
