Genesis 26:10 (KJV)
And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.
I am reminded of, Luke 16:8
And the lord commended the unjust
The king of Gerar appears to have been more moral than the people of God, certainly more moral than many today. Was there a reason they understood the weight of guiltiness? I do not know; I doubt if they were concerned that their guilt would be judged by Almighty God. What they believed to be the consequences of such guiltiness we are not told.
The people of modern culture carry no such sense of guiltiness. And it is no wonder. Christianity today has largely abandoned the concepts of righteousness. Christianity has become a bastion of free thinking. Almost anything goes in the churches of our day. There is little sense of the righteousness and judgment of God.
We have lost our savor. We are little good to this world if we do not hold a higher standard of righteousness, morality, temperance
