2 Chronicles 5:14 God Showed Up

2 Chronicles 5:14 (KJV)
So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.

What an interesting thought. When God showed up at the Temple even the priests had to sit down. They could not minister while in the presence of the glory of the Lord.

We hear a great deal about “God showing up” at certain church services, preaching conferences or sundry meetings. What is generally meant by that is that the preachers were hot – they were in the zone. The messages were inspiring, the music was moving, and the altars were busy.

Perhaps when God shows up the signs would be more like what happened to Isaiah, or Peter who fell down prostrate in the presence of the Lord.

Maybe what we should be looking for is not an inspirational service but a quiet one. One where people simply bow in humble awe that God has met with them.
