2 Chronicles 17:10 (KJV)
And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
The Bible describes Jehoshaphat as unique among the kings of Judah. He walked in the first ways of his father David. There were other good kings, but few whose obedience and faith were like to Jehoshaphat.
And God uniquely blessed Judah during the reign of Jehoshaphat. The fear of the Lord fell upon the neighboring kingdoms so that there was peace between them. The only battle in his day was one he foolishly agreed to enter. God had protected and blessed other kings not so good. He had even blessed and protected rebellious kings in northern Israel. But this was a unique blessing. The difference of which can be seen in the battle Jehoshaphat did enter into, where Ahab disguised himself and Jehoshaphat did not. Though the enemy originally attacked Jehoshaphat because he looked like a king, they quickly realized he was not their target. An archer, on a whim, shot an arrow through the chest of a man who turned out to be wicked king Ahab.
All this makes me wonder what God might do in Israel today if they turned their whole hearts to God? He is blessing Israel today, it is obvious. What blessings more might happen if they turned to the LORD?
And in the United States today; God is blessing our land through the leadership of President Trump. And that despite his obvious worldliness. President Trump acknowledges God more openly than most of our recent Presidents, but he does not have a perfect heart before the Lord. What might God do if he turned with a whole heart to the Lord?
