2 Corinthians 9:10 (KJV)
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
I find great value in studying the prayers of the Apostles, Paul’s being the most frequently found in the Word of God. The context of this prayer is that of an offering being collected by the believers that Paul planned to take to be a help to the saints in Jerusalem. We take this passage as an example of Faith Promise giving. Most often we designate those gifts for missionaries.
Paul is praying here for the believers as they give toward this collection. He prays:
That God would provide for the giver
That the work of their hands would provide sufficiently for their needs.
That God would multiply the seed sown
I think that means giving them more than the expected return. That they would labor and their pay would be more than expected.
That God would bless their gift with fruit
So they had enough to meet their needs, they had more than they had budgeted to receive and the gift they gave accomplished more than they would think possible.
