Psalms 119:126 It Is Time

Psalms 119:126 (KJV)
It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.

Gill writes, “It was always a notion of the Jews that the time of the Messiah’s coming would be when it was a time of great wickedness in the earth; and which seems to agree with the word of God, and was true in fact”.

There comes a time when all the work men can do is pointless and to little avail. There is nothing that can be done:

  • When the majority reject the Word of God and, even worse, the moral code of Almighty God; when right is relative,
  • When men view themselves as animals, not responsible to the rule of decency, morality or humankind.
  • When the logic of the Word of God is but nothing to them, then it is time for God to work.

We seem to be in such a time. I have never felt it my place to tell the Lord what I think He should do, but on the basis of this passage, I plead for God to work.

Gill says, and Barnes Notes agrees, that this work is in the coming of the Lord. I pray frequently, nearly every day, for the coming of Jesus. This verse supports my prayer.

It is time for there, LORD, to work, for they have made void thy law
