Isaiah 57:1-2 The Evil Which Is To Come

Isaiah 57:1-2 (KJV)
The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.
He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

The evil which is to come.

One of our great problems today is that we fail to consider this evil which is to come. The near fulfillment of this passage would certainly be the Babylonian captivity. But there have been many evil days since:

  • The desecration of the Temple
  • The Roman occupation
  • The ottoman invasion
  • The Dark Ages against Christians
  • World War II

There is an evil in the world today, perhaps not as evil as some in the past, but difficult for we, who have lived so delicately for so long.

There is a much worse evil that is yet to come.

When a righteous man (having the righteousness of Christ) passes from this earth, his body is laid to rest, his soul walks in uprightness in eternal places and he has been delivered from the evil to come.

Rejoice in this.
