2 Corinthians 5:16 (KJV)
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
Verse seventeen reads, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Today this newness is positional. God sees us as new creatures because we are in Christ. In that it is positional, it is actual, even though it is not yet experiential.
Verse sixteen must be viewed in a similar manner based off of verses fourteen and fifteen, “For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”
The love of Christ constrains is to see others, not after the flesh but according to these truths:
First Christ died for them all
Second all of them are therefore dead
Third those of us who live must do so not for self but for Christ.
That being the case, we ought to see everyone who is in Christ as a new creature. We ought to see them, not as they are experientially, but as they are positionally.
