1 Kings 10:2 (KJV)
And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.
Once the Queen had communed all that was in her heart, Solomon told her all her questions. He hid nothing from her.
It is one thing to give counsel and instruction to someone who is open and honest. It is an entirely different thing to give that same instruction to someone who has a secret agenda, who is withholding in their heart, who does not honestly seek the answers but only asks out of obligation or to bring a trap.
Solomon had supernatural wisdom to discern the heart. None of the rest of us have that. But it is still a matter of wisdom to discern when it’s time to quit giving out our counsel and when we are in a good position to continue.
It was after all, Solomon who wrote, (under inspiration of the Holy Spirit) Proverbs 17:28 (KJV)
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
