1 Kings 19:6 (KJV) The Natural and the Supernatural

1 Kings 19:6 (KJV)
And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

Here is a remarkable melding of the natural and the supernatural. The angel built a fire, baked some bread, allocated a Cruse and filled it with water. Elijah’s physical needs were met in a physical way but by a spiritual being.

How often this melding takes place in the life of believers today is impossible to tell but that it happens is, I believe, confirmed by:

Hebrews 1:14
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

And Hebrews 13:2
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Mark 5:24 (KJV) Jesus Stress Free

Mark 5:24 (KJV)
And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

There were as many hindrances to Jairus’ daughter being healed as one could imagine

  • A sea
  • A multitude
  • Another person in need
  • A messenger with bad news
  • A death
  • A mocking family

Notice that none these in any way stressed our Lord or presented any obstacle to His purpose.

The trouble we too often have is that we can’t see passed the obstacles to watch the Lord’s calm assurance. He has it handled. Ask Him, follow Him and trust Him.

Matthew 22:34 (KJV) How To Silence a Sadducee

Matthew 22:34 (KJV)
But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.

Jesus put the Sadducees to silence but He did not convince them of the truth. We have mistaken our calling if we have come to believe that our duty is to convince everyone we speak to of the truth of the Gospel. Though we would like to see it, though we must preach with the passion to affect it, the reality is that:

  • Jesus didn’t see it
  • The world has never wholeheartedly accepted Christ and
  • To expect it can skew our methods of ministry

We stop their words with one tool; refusal to budge on the Bible.

To my reader:
We often become disappointed in the results of our work because we misunderstand the purpose of our work. Our job is not to convert the world but be witnesses to the world. Steadfastness to the truths of the Bible; that is our calling. I would love to hear from you. Leave comments below.

God’s Steps to Give Us His Word

Hebrews 2:1-3 KJV

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

The context before and after has to do with the veracity of God’s Word. God has taken such steps to give us His Word;

  • sure
  • secure
  • pure and
  • preserved

God’s efforts in getting His Word to us should spur us to earnest study, comprehension and practice.

Another “Furthermore”

1 Thessalonians 4:1 KJV

Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

Furthermore…

In the Christian life, there is always something new:

  • To learn
  • To practice
  • To grow in

The Christian life is never, or should never be static.

No Christian should ever allow himself or herself to feel like he or she has arrived; like there is nothing else to master in the faith. This life of faith is a matter of constant advancement. To stop growing is to stop living as a Christian. We never attain perfection in this world.

There will always be another “furthermore “.
